The Supreme Court of Illinois has rejected a hospital's quest for preferential tax treatment because it was "charitable." The status of "charitable" can give enormous benefit in our courts and tax system, allowing entities to in essence, "get away with" a lot that normal everyday corporations (and individuals) cannot.
