Payee Notification-Good For Consumers-Why Do Some Trial Lawyers Oppose

A simple and smart consumer protection statute that would have prevented the theft of millions by now imprisoned attorney Stephen Conrad is opposed by some Virginia trial lawyers. They appear to oppose the statute out of their own self concern about reputation of the trial bar.

I argue that supporting the measure would enhance, not diminish the reputation of trial lawyers, because supporting the measure is the right thing to do and no consumer of legal services would think this is a bad idea.

You can read my thought on the Virginia debate surrounding the proposed payee notification statute here.
