CLAIMS ADJUSTER CLAIMING TIME LIMIT: I was in an accident and recently the claims adjuster wrote me a letter that says :unless we hear from you within the next 21 days, we will close our file and consider this matter concluded." Can they do this?
A: You have two years from the date of the accident in Virginia to file a lawsuit related to the accident. This is a common tactic used by claims adjusters to get you to rush into a settlement. Their letter is virtually meaningless.
