Frequently Asked Questions about Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, and Insurance Disputes

Q: While I'm waiting for my settlement or trial, how do I get my medical bills paid?

A: There are a few ways to get your medical bills paid. First, would be by your health insurance provider. Depending on your coverage they can help pay for your treatment. Second, would be your automobile insurance provider. A lot of car insurance policies have a thing called MedPay which helps to cover cost of care after an auto accident. MedPay is generally limited but it is another place you can find money to help pay for your medical bills. Both your health and auto insurance providers will probably tell you to go talk to the other driver's insurance company and they will try not to pay you but if it is part of your plan then they have to. Don't be surprised if they expect you to repay them with whatever damages your awarded.

Also, some doctors will provide you service initially without payment but they will also need to be paid once your settle your case or are awarded damages. However, payment is often still required even if you lose out on any recovery.
