Be careful of these tricks used by insurance companies in car accident cases in Haymarket and Gainesville, VA (Part 2 of 2).

In Part 1 of this series, I told you how insurance companies will deliberately delay your claim, request unnecessary information, and dispute your medical treatment in car accident cases in Haymarket and Gainesville, VA. In Part 2, you will learn three new ways that insurance companies may trick you while you are trying to settle your car accident case.

  1. Taking a little off the top. Insurance is a big business and millions of people make claims every year. If the insurance company can shave just 5% (or even less) off of each claim, that could mean millions is profit for them. If you are a Haymarket or Gainesville driver that is making a claim, make sure that you don't get nickled and dimed on your medical charges by the insurance company.
  2. Not being entirely honest about your benefits. There have been times that our clients have been told that they only have $100,000 in coverage (which is less than you may think). Suddenly, we file suit, and there is an "umbrella policy" that pops up to help out. Let's be honest: they knew about this from the beginning, but they chose to misrepresent the policy's benefits.
  3. Making false promises. Be extra wary if the adjuster is trying to become your friend. He or she may even show up at your house and will promise to pay your future medical bills. In the end, this is just a diversionary tactic to stop you from hiring an attorney. And as for those future medical bills? They only get paid until the computer says, "This claim is costing us too much."
