I don’t recall anyone saying their car wreck experience was pleasant, or the physical recovery from their personal injury being much better. Having an injury is frustrating, but having someone approach you at the hospital where you landed shortly after the car wreck isn't much better. The worst part about this isn't that they send these "goons" your way, but the fact that you've been in a serious automobile accident, and the last thing you want or need is someone trying to sell you something.
I’ve had a number of clients who shortly after a car wreck were approached in the hospital or at home. This is of course someone they don’t know who comes up and says “look, I know you’re hurt. You really have to hire this Virginia personal injury lawyer if you want to win your case.
Is this highly unethical? Absolutely, but more importantly it’s illegal in most states! Think about this for a few seconds – if your attorney needs to hire someone to run after you inside of a hospital while you’re recovering, what kind of lawyer is he? How bad can his service really be?
So here's my message, in Virginia, if after an automobile accident, you are approached by anyone representing a personal injury lawyer, you should contact the Virginia State Bar and file a complaint. Again, this is highly unethical in Virginia, it is illegal in most states and it is not of good service to you, especially when you've been in a car wreck.
I guarantee you that lawyers who have to send people to hospitals to sign up clients aren't great lawyers. Why again, would they have to send their "goons" your way when you're in a weakend state? They're basically trying to prey on you!
