Social Security Attorney - Should You Use the One Recommended by the disability insurance company?
Hi this is Ben. One of the questions that we’ve got from disability in terms of clients as to whether or not they should use a Social Security Disability company or law firm that’s been recommended by an insurance company.
Our answer is no, no, no. Go and find a Social Security Disability attorney in your area who you can meet with, can talk to face-to-face, and you can make some judgments about. Some of the firms that the insurance companies recommend aren’t even law firms. Thus, they’re not held to the Attorney’s Code of Ethics.
They sometimes will not respond to reasonable request. And we think frankly they’re in bed with the insurance companies. In some cases, we have seen them make claims for Social Security Disability for disabilities that have been limited under your insurance policy. In other words, we don’t believe they are working in your best interest.
We believe that the best answer is to find an experienced Social Security Disability attorney in your town. This is of a person who will look out for your interest and your interest alone.
One more thing is, if you’re applying for disability benefits with the insurance company, and you hire your own private lawyer, in most cases, the insurance company is going to pay for that lawyer as well.
