Ottaway School Accident Raises Questions About Responsibility

Posted on May 30, 2011

A school classroom has exploded in Ottawa, Canada. According to press reports and an Ottawa attorney's comments on the school explosion, a 1500 student school in Canada a drum of oil in a school "shop class" ignited.

Apparently the class was building barbeques when the incident occurred.

There will undoubtably be claims arising out of this case although, in some places in the United States such claims may be barred by governemental immunity (meaning no suit or claim can be brought.)

Ottawa Attorney Brenda Hollingsworth was quoted as saying that generally, such claims can be brought in Ontario.
