People Are Talking About Virginia Attorney Ben Glass
We are honored by the comments and testimonials that we receive from the people we have helped since 1983. Here are a few of them. Obviously you should not choose the right attorney for your case based on testimonials alone but most of our clients tell us that it was a combination of information, testimonials and case results that lead them to hire Ben Glass to be their attorney.
Some folks, though, would rather choose their lawyer by random chance or by going to one of those sites where you post your case to "specially selected" lawyers.
I greatly appreciate your efforts on my wife's disability appeal. Your staff worked hard, is very talented and your ethical approach was readily apparent. I searched hard for a lawyer to help with my appeal, and everyone (my wife's doctor, my attorney friend, and another medical professional) I talked to said, "Ben Glass is the best in his field"
My experience with your firm confirms what they said. You handled my wife's difficult appeal with confidence, a solid plan and an extremely well executed response. I read your written response with a smile. You deconstructed the insurance companies' poor reasoning and put together an extremely logical, fact based case that won on appeal. Your counsel on the process, what to expect, and what to do, was spot on as well.
I invested a lot of my hard earned money in the appeal and it was worth every penny.
Again, thank you. Please feel free to use me as a reference if a perspective client would like to talk to someone.
BTW, I love your newsletters, congratulations on the new additions to your family.
Sincerely,
Stephen Power
I have interacted with Ben as a lawyer since 2001.
He has been an astute listener, has given me "rock solid" advice, and has worked successfully with companies on my behalf. I depend upon him as a sounding board who will always have my best interests in mind. I trust him. He delivers on his promises!

Its' Amazing How Insurance Companies Keep Kicking People- Ben was there to help!
When I came to Ben for help, I had already appealed to Aetna three times for short-term disability. I was denied each time even though I had provided all information requested and then some. Ben reviewed my situation and felt we had a good case, so we proceeded. Shortly thereafter Aetna settled and said I should have no problem receiving long-term disability. Then, with Ben’s help, I applied for long-term disability and it started all over again. They denied the initial application, so we appealed. Then they approved it but did not pay as much as they should have. We appealed again and they paid some more. We are still currently working to get all that I am due. It is amazing how insurance companies, kick and keep kicking a person when they’re already down and legitimately entitled to receive benefits. Ben has been a real lifesaver. -Vickie L.
Grab a coffee, it may take a few minutes for me to truly tell you about my experience(s) with Ben Glass.
I actually have had the medical misfortune causing me to be a “frequent filer” with Ben & his highly competent staff. Two unlikely medical mishaps-one in 2005, the other two years later, both life-altering. With the 1st one, once I was out of the woods, a friend of a friend recommended a personal injury attorney, (Not Ben Glass) and I signed with him. In VA you only have two years to file from the date of injury, and just before that date, this lawyer decided to leave the practice he was in, strike out on his own…. Best thing that ever happened to me.
I had to “re-sign” with him, and told my mom I was having second thoughts. My mom… who is always right… pulled an article that she had been saving from a few years back, out of her secretary. “I know I mentioned this man to you before, but you were too overwhelmed to interview more than one, so you went with the advice of your friend. Now I AM telling you, CALL BEN GLASS.” She had read his name in the paper on several occasions, this one in particular was an article reported in the Washington Post about a difficult case involving an HMO, which I was a member of. I took the article, and her advice, and thanked God for His guidance too. Thankful that I didn’t allow my guilt for taking away what the other lawyer assured me was going to be “the cornerstone” of his new practice- meaning to convince me it would be priority #1- but to me translated into one he was going to be cutting his teeth on. And thankful that I had another lawyer to compare Ben to.
After going through the outstanding & efficient screening process Ben has created and put in place with your first call to his office, I felt confident that 1st meeting was not going to be a waste of my time or Ben’s. I left not sure who had actually interviewed who, but feeling a whole lot better about my case. He and his office staff jumped right on it. But when the initial flurry of paperwork had been caught up, I was able to catch my breath and knew they’d let me know what was next and when they needed me. The office frequently touts their communication policy, and they should, because it works! When the time came to focus on my case, they were on it, 100%, no distractions. We were ready to go to trial because the insurance company waited until the last minute to show an interest in mediation. In the end, mediation was a success. Ben and his staff was consistently organized, thorough, professional and always exhibited integrity in dealing with “the other side”. I think I fared well because of his reputation for that, in both cases.
Two doctors and a laboratory, over an 18 month time period, permanently altered my life as I knew it. Ben Glass, in the two years that followed, helped give me & my family some semblance of quality back & ensure their (my children’s) stability for the future….

Ben is one of the top two attorneys I have had the pleasure of working with over the last 20 years in business and personal legal issues.
He is focused and fierce in his determination to serve his client's needs, yet friendly at all times. He is insightful, responsive and always open to input from the client's perspective on even the most detailed of legal points. He clearly knows what he is doing, but welcomes other views from which to learn and make valued judgments that will serve the client with even better long-term advice.
My first encounter with Ben was in handling a dispute over a disability claim. Could not have asked for better advice and legal representation.
I have since returned to Ben for his opinion on related issues, and now am working with him on a malpractice case.
I trust his judgment completely and welcome the time we spend together.

After I was rear ended by a tractor trailer truck while stopped in traffic on the Washington beltway, my husband contacted Ben Glass.
At first, I said we don't need a lawyer. Believe me, we did. Ben was patient and kind and although the truck driver was at fault, we were never offered a penny until less than a week before trial date 2 years and 9 months later. (My medical bills were over $150,000.)
The first small offer was weeks after the only professional witness on their side stated in an independent exam that all my medical care was due to this accident. They never denied fault. Although my life has been dramatically affected, I found many injuries are hard to prove medically. The insurance company lawyers dug into absolutely everything in my past, affected my relationships with my personal physicians, and tried to make me feel like my life didn't matter. They were like little rats who latched on and wouldn't let go. I know I deserved more than what we got in settlement, and I still live every day with pain and limitations. I still pay several thousand dollars out of pocket yearly when I decide to once again try to find solutions to my pain.
My career I worked so hard for was destroyed. We were offered a somewhat decent settlement and I did not want to go to trial, so we settled our case. We had no way of knowing what a Northern Virginia jury would decide and Ben helped us to be realists. You can not depend upon your doctors to save your case because they don't like this kind of stuff. We knew from the beginning to not expect a very high settlement even though it was one of the most severe type of accidents that could happen.
I was fortunate to live through it and still be able to lead a somewhat decent life. There are nights I still can't sleep and sob for the pain, when I have doubts about accepting the settlement, but I have seen what the insurance company lawyers can do, and believe me, you do need a lawyer. Ben guided us through a difficult time with empathy, knowledge, and realism.

We were led to Mr. Ben Glass through his books and radio spots on WMAL.
We ordered his books and read them cover to cover. (We also used the information in the books to vet other personal injury attorneys). After discussions with several personal injury lawyers, we decided to give Mr. Glass a call. On initial call, we were told he was extremely busy and unable to consider our case. After taking time to speak directly with my wife, he agreed to see us and listen to my wife's case. When we met, Mr Glass and his staff were consummate professionals.
Mr. Glass listened intently and after a few minutes agreed to take my wife’s case. This is notable because we were made aware that he accepted very few cases and was extremely busy. Since he has been handling the case, it almost feels like we are on autopilot . We receive consistent updates on the case and information gathering efforts of his staff.
We also receive the literature and information requests to make sure my wife was doing okay and asking if we have any questions or need anything. His legal expertise has been a great service to my wife and I. Mr. Glass has relieved the stress of worrying about how the case will be settled. We are fully confident that he will be able to handle all aspects of the case. We look forward to a long relationship with Mr. Glass’ office, not only as attorney/client but as friends of the family.

This guy is sharp. An ethical sharp. He knows what he is doing and my wife and I felt very comfortable consulting with him and hired him.
He is a published author and gave us several resources to read before deciding to retain him. One thing he was most concerned about was whether or not we needed a lawyer or whether with a little guidance, it was a case we could could resolve to our satisfaction without paying him a fee! That was a refreshing change in any business, especially in these economic times.
To have a lawyer (or any service provider) to be more concerned about our situation than his fee, was almost unbelievable.
If you are looking for a knowledgeable, ethical and intelligent personal injury lawyer whose focus is you and your situation, that is more concerned with helping than he is getting paid, I can think of no other lawyer I would rather have on my side.

This testimonial is from a long time client--someone Ben Glass first helped many years ago.
I am writing today to tell you how much your last book and your philosphies have helped me....
You actually got me through some tough times over the last few months, and continue to do so today (and probably tomorrow and on and on). you see, at the age of 50 i had a heart attack, followed by hospitalizations, followed by erroneous release from the hospital, followed by readmittance, following by a double bypass, followed by my first (of several, evidently) lung sack drainage procedures which involves much courage and a long needle in the back. you may not believe this, but all this has not been nearly as fun as it sounds.
I was in the local hospital and also fairfax hospital for over a month, with lots of horror at home afterwards. while in the hospital i kept a REALLY great attitude. the nurses loved me. so much so that they started to linger during my check-ups and even coming to my room to 'chat' when they were on their breaks. this is one thing i learned from you and that is not to let people steal your time.
I needed to sleep and mend! ... so my version of not answering the phone and being less accessible was to keep the door closed and not answer the phone! i continue to not answer the phone at home. it drives visitors crazy, but why should i stop what i am doing for a phone call when i have an answering system? it is so logical. i wonder why we are all slaves to the phone.
also, i only hung with the positive patients... the ones that were much further along in their recovery than i was. it really worked. who wants to hang with a bunch of sick people, anyway? i later learned they had gone through a much lessor surgery than i had.... and here i thought they were just real troopers. oh well! worked for me!
Well, i certainly don't want to be a time thief, so i'll close. i just wanted you to know that attorneys and entrepreneurs aren't the only ones who can catch on to your terrific advice.

Thank you, Ben, for riding it out with me...
and for for wading through all the documents I'd send to support my thoughts and research findings and for working out-side the paradigm in the end with a compassionate and flexible solution that allowed us to end the day with resolution. You are the man!!!

Accident Victim With Offer Gets Great Legal Service at an Hourly Rate
We offer a unique "ClientFirst" perspective in regard to legal fees. Often you don't need a lawyer who is going to charge a full "standard 1/3" percentage, particularly if you already have been offered a settlement by the insurance company.
In this case, "Carolyn" came to us with a decent, but not "top dollar" offer from Travelers Insurance Company. She didn't need a lawyer who would charge a hefty percentage. We were able to increase her offer by thousands of dollars for less than $700 in legal fees.
She said:
I want to express my sincere appreciation for legal services rendered by your firm in the handling of my case. In particular, it was a pleasure to work with Armand Alacbay who acted on my behalf dealing with the Traveler Indemnity Co. to arrive at a fair and reasonable settlement. I found him to be competent, capable and very courteous throughout the period of our interaction. I had the feeling I was in good hands.
Thank you for providing assistance to me in this matter. Should any of my friends, family or associates need professional legal services in the resolution of personal injury cases, I will be happy to recommend your firm as highly capable and effective.
Carolyn, Annandale, VA
Ben...I do have a lawyer who, after getting the info he needs, takes his valuable time to ask me if I have anything else to discuss...and this one thing has made my day OK. I appreciate the way you treat me. Thank you very much.
Ben...Thank you very much for the article, it was very interesting. I must tell you though, we were very surprised.
It is a great feeling to know there are still people (very busy people) who still have the thoughtfulness and the time
to think of someone you met only once.
Mr. Glass: Thank you so much for the time spent evaluating
my medical records. I appreciate your meeting with me even
though you were unable to take my cancer malpractice case,
and I am grateful for your input about pursuing the claim.
Mr. Glass: I would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to you and your staff for the courteous servicereceived during our consultations. Thank you for your assistance, your suggestions and directions. Thanks for the great service. Thanks for coming to the rescue.
Mr. Glass...thank you very much for your advice. It worked.
I did exactly what you told me. Last Friday I received a check for $2300 from Allstate...Coming to see you was not a waste of time. It was fruitful.
"I have a guardian angel"
I cannot thank you enough and say how much I appreciate your kindness. I have heard of guardian angels, now I know they are real--and I now know I have one. ... I am so happy I will never forget.

Dear Ben: Your book [Robbery Without a Gun] helped us to avoid pitfalls
in unfamiliar terrain.
It was reasurring to have your counsel on our side.
Michael, Virginia Beach, Virginia [note: Michael just needed a little help regarding his claim. He read our book and was able to get the insurance company off of his back.]
